I do not charge by the hour and only undertake one wedding on any given day. There seems to be a belief that if I only turn up for an hour and take 20 pictures I can photograph a wedding for a couple of quid. In days gone by when a camera had to be loaded with film, then, there were limits on how many pictures could be taken as film processing was always expensive, which is why wedding photography on the whole became so very expensive. Now, with digital cameras, there are no limits on how many pictures are taken and my prices include my time at your wedding for as long as you want me to stay....as long as ‘refreshments’ are provided of course.
The reason why some wedding photographers seem so expensive is because all they do is take photographs. All their printing and albums are done by someone else, which costs them a lot of money, which they add a bit on to and pass it on to you. I use inexpensive ‘Memory’ albums and do all my own printing. Doing all this work ‘in house’ means that your album is ready much quicker and I have more control over the whole process....it also keeps my costs down so that you pay less and get more for your money.
The reason why some wedding photography seems so cheap is probably because none of the pictures are printed. Paying someone to provide pictures on a CD or Flash Drive may seem like a good idea at the time, but CDs are easy to destroy and Flash Drives are very easy to lose. This is why I only provide a Wedding Album service because if it isn’t printed, it isn’t a photograph.
I only really want to photograph happy weddings with lots of laughter with happy guests and families, so if you are planning a miserable wedding, you are looking at the wrong photographer.
Also, if having a fat man on a powered wheelchair at your wedding venue is likely to cause problems...then bring it on, please! These places should have proper disabled access anyway. However, if hiring a disabled photographer causes you any concern, I can only say that it doesn’t bother me in the slightest and causes me no embarrassment whatsoever.
I look forward to meeting you and hope you will invite me to your wedding
